    Poem Commentary

This one is just for fun.

L.A. Slick Chick Meets Uptown Urban Princess

Slick:"So, like, don't TELL me that YUR like, cool with that since I ALREADY KNOW what UR like all ABOUT."
Princess: " Is there a particular reason whry your verbage is littered with the word, "like?" What exactly is your point?"
Slick: "I mean, whatever...If U can't EVEN understand what my meaning, like, stands for, then HOW em I SUPPOSED to MAKE YOU think that I'm all about that 1 thing I'm tryin' to EXPLAIN?"
Princess: "Well, why don't you try to communicate more effectivley, using proper nouns, verbs, adverbs, and adjectives, for a start?"
Slick: "WHAAAT? So now yur gonna try en MAKE me TRY to EXPLAIN to U why U can't UNDERSTAND what I'm tryin' to tell U even tho I think U DON'T, like, EVEN care about what I'm tryin' to tell U?"
Princess:"Hold On A Minute. Are you trying to tell me that I don't actually care about anything you are trying to convey in this conversation that we are attempting to have, or at least trying to communicate to one another?"
Slick:"YYAAAHH.THat's right. For SURE, U don't really have what it takes to UNDERSTAND, whatever, like,I want U to UNDERSTAND if U REALLY WANTED to UNDERSTAND ME at ALL."
Princess:" Let me try to get this straight. So, you are trying to explain to me that I will never be able to communicate with you, in any fashion whatsoever, because I am unable to unravel your speech patterns at any and every level?"
Slick:"Nnnnooooeeeww.I think UR, like, REALLY REALLY STUuupid. U don't EVEN KNOW what U R talking about since UR ssoooooooooooo dumb."
Princess:"Okay. I think I am starting to realize that our conversation can go no where, at this point in tme. There seems to be an extremely large communication barrier in each and every idea, as we try to comprehend the true meaning of life, as it stands. I bid you "ado," and in the FUTURE, if U, like, wanna TALK at me, FIND SUm Body that really really really WANTS to, like, TALK wif U, OR GO GET BY yur own SELF, and like, try ta unnerstan waht U R sayin', STU-pid N Pahleeez DONT U EVR EVR EVR firgit THAT 1 thiNG WAT we wur talkin bout whein we talk B4. dont' U bore me no mo."

Hilarious! So loved this, reminds me of texting with teens.. also a sadly true commentary of the trends developing as our society learns to communicate in seemingly uneducated slang on tiny electronic devices. Intimacy without personal contact, very interesting and chilly.. Thank you for this excellent thought provoker.

lucinda, Modern ebonics are so much about what you are saying here. A clever take on talking about something ...or nothing. ginga
