    LAYIN IT DOWN...

I didn't meet your eyes, didn't fall for the disguise
the mask that you wear for all to see
pretty eyes flashing flirting with everyone
    just to see who dares
My interest is caught I'm stuck, spellbound
like some others my chest pounds
The signals, hints that are so subtle
looks that you give makes me puddle
Are you serious, is this real
the look in your eyes,is that how you feel
I read into it, more than I should
but with those signals almost anybody would
Once I stepped to far I miss-read the signs
guess I couldn't just read between the lines
You never date someone, who doesn't have potential
so i stoped to think, who else has credentials
you say I make you smile and I do my best
to make my time worth your while
Not sure what I did or maby didn't do
I tried my damndest to get through to you
I pushed the point more than a touch
but I wouldn't of done it, if you didn't mean so much
     Now I won't be a puppy on a string
your every now and then kind of plaything
I'll fight to keep you, to keep what is mine
but if you're not with me then I got left behind
So i toss and turn late at night
somethings missing, it's not quite right
My hands reaching out arms full of air
I sit up realising I'm the one who cares
Just like usual I've jumped too far
    way to damn fast
I should have known, now it's kickin my ass

This is well done. I think everybody knows this kind of person that you write about and can relate to the foolish heartbreak. Jumping to far, to soon only to see later what you missed when you were blinded by their deception.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
