    Learn Me

    You want me

    But you don’t know me

    Thus far

    All you’ve seen of me

    Is my happiness

    My skills on the floor

    You won’t know me

    Till you know my sadness

    Know the scars

    The sound of my Heart

With the stroke of a pen

    I am many things

    You have not seen

    Yet other parts of me

    Such as my past

    You might not like

    I was a warrior

    Killed in combat

    Was in Love

    Her memory still hurts me

    Many other examples

    Why on earth

    Do you desire me

    Trust me

    I do not understand

    What you see in me

    We love to make love

    In the night

But since when is that enough

    Learn me

    Know me

    Before you let yourself

    Fall for me

    Please for your sake

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
