    Poem Commentary

This poem is not done just looking for some pointers on how to finish it

    Letter to Myself

    Letter to Myself

    Hey, how are you?

I’m doing alright could be a little better though

I’m writing you this letter because I didn’t know how else to say it

I stand and look into the mirror shocked by what I see

I looked into your eyes and was astonished by the built up emotions I seen

Years of emotion locked away like a murderer on death row awaiting his last meal

Your body marred from the on-going battle with this dark forsaken world

Yet you still stand unemotional and unfazed by the bigotry around you

Strained by the stressors of life but left lacking the love of loved ones

Tempted by the likes of adulterous fornicators sent to destroy you

Isolated in a room with smoke stained walls closing in on me

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
