Poem Commentary

Our beliefs really screw up the mind

Life and Death

When the spirit is set free
   Is that not life?

When the spirit is trapped in matter
   Is that not death?

Have we not misunderstood the signs?
Are we not born into death?
   And die into life?

How can one fear that?

We might be dead, now. So who could be afraid of LIFE? Not those who understand, T. LAL.

Great articulation of something poets and songsters have pondered for eons. It seems that this would be the case...

The minute we're born we start dying, and then we get to experience life after death (I think).............................................g

My guess is that life is more like a bell curve. We don't start dying right away, but grow first, reach our peak, then decline. Then to return again and again.

Highly philosophical write indeed! Hhmmm, yes when the spirit is set free there is life yet the spirit is highly capable of being set free while one is still living and breathing also.. though one's spirit has no choice but to return to the one whom is living and breathing until this ceases .. hence setting the spirit free as most are conditioned.

There is much we have to learn about our essence. I was trying to make the point that what we call life may really be death, and what we call death may really be life. As I understand it, there is very little we have correct anyway. Thanks for you comment.

True and a very good point made. Goes hand in hand with my theory pertaining to the world being backwards.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
