Poem Commentary

terza rima

like a flower

your love sings like a flower; soulful sound

rebounds throughout the universe full voice

and serenades me from your hollow mound.

because, of all the flowers, you made choice

of cactus blossom, once a century

I am that thorn, I weep blood and rejoice

that life-times will not take your love from me;

I wait through desert days, store all my might

until my buds burst forth triumphantly

to woo you with my perfume in the night.

recalled to life, we’ll tumble to the ground

and claim the universe as lover’s right.

your love sings like a flower, soulful sound

and serenades me from your hollow mound.

I am just loving that 4th stanza. This is filled with passion, love and lots of heat. Nice work. ~Pamela

This is exceptional. I read into it the resilience of life and the universal need to blossom into our full potential.

A very beautiful, serene write of such a determined flower.

Punctuation isn't needed per ending lines. It's distracting to my reading.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
