Little Girl Lost - Part 2

The little girl lost just disappeared
    I'd wait for her return
    Countless hours I would spend
    Hoping I would learn
What brought about the change that day
What made her end the dance
I'd ask until I came upon
    The answer just by chance

My life went on as these things do
And though I missed my friend
I found the memories of our game
    were fading to an end
I fought to hold them to my heart
    But fate would intervene
I felt her pull away from me
    Erasing all I'd seen

One night while I was dreaming
    She knelt beside my bed
    Her youthful beauty drowning out
The words that she had said
I woke up trembling frightened that
I'd missed what I had sought
The past was flashing through my mind
    The things that I'd forgot

That little girl was never really
    Truly lost you see
She simply stepped aside so I could
    Be who I should be

    The woman found in me

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
