    Little Grown Girls

I can’t stand it when I see little grown girls
Pounds of makeup on a girl of two
Working the stage like she’s instructed to do
But just wanting to play with a doll that’s new
    Shame on you…

I can’t stand it when I see little grown girls
Eight years old in some Apple Bottom jeans
Having no idea what living life means
Dancing in a video is the extent of their dreams
    Oh, please…

I can’t stand it when I see little grown girls
Always got something smart to say
At ten thinking they should always have their way
In school they don’t believe they should have to stay
    It’s not okay…

I can’t stand it when I see little grown girls
Give them advice they roll their eyes and sigh
Hands on their hips with intent to defy
Fourteen and having more sex than I
My blood pressure’s about to rise…

I can’t stand it when I see little grown girls
Wearing too-short skirts and too-high heels
To the grown man’s eye they try to appeal
The grown woman’s game they want to steal
    It’s time to get real…

Man, I can’t stand it when I see little grown girls
You might have the body, you might have the looks
Get your head together and your mind on those books
Or on grown folks games you’ll find yourself hooked
You might be sorry for the road you took…

It’s a shame to see little grown girls.

I agree and it gives men the wrong message when they see little grown girls. However, if little grown girls only knew........ how much the real women go through they would ust be little girls.

That's so very true, star. Little grown girls have no idea some of the things we face every single day...some of the decisions we have to make...some of the sacrifices we make just to survive. If they only knew...

I thought that I was watching a real skit; that was how the words came through, real and hitting it on the nose!

It's insane how the world treats our little girls...and how WE treat them...thanks so much!

I like it. very frank about the unbecoming way some grow up. the decent values are the values which take us to lasting peace of mind. that is the message of your poem. thank you. a 10 from me.

Thank you so much! Yes, the decent values can lead to peace of mind. The problem is, some people just don't have decent values anymore. Thanks so much for the comment!

Thank you so much! Yes, it's sad--they've gotten out of control...and the problem is that some of the parents are encouraging it. Thanks for the comment!

This sure rings a bell for me. I hear parents tell the little girls ,as they model those too tight clothes the bought them" You look sexy" Give me a break she is 4 year old. this is a true story of the life people are living now.and what happened to having morals? You tell it like is ,and its poetic on top of that. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for the comment! Yes, it's sad when I see stuff like that. A girl I know wanted to add me on FaceBook--she's like, 15...and I'm 30...and she took a picture with some sunglasses or whatever, and her aunt made a comment that she's just too cute (she's got "SEXY" written all over the picture) and looks great. Sure...so some 60 year old can get off on that stuff? Please. I didn't even add her. Anyway...lol...I'll step off my soap box now. Thanks again!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
