    Poem Commentary

    As a child growing up I always wanted to be Sioux Indian. I found out immediately however that i was not and was of cheerokee descent. This poem is a brief story about that.

    Little Sioux Boy

     When i found out i had Native blood,
    Like a running flood,
    I wanted to know who, which, part of the design was I,
    But in my heart it was Sioux I wanted to be across the big blue sky,
    Despite being known for eating dogs, they were known for being Great men of battle,
    Greater than a simple cowboy on a saddle,

    I then wanted to be a great warrior too,
    Take my place amongst the Sioux,
    And should i have become chief, i wanted someone beautiful to reign alongside,
    I suppose in this case, i may have well had a bride,

    But my mother told me that we have Cheerokee blood, descent,
    Still for awhile in my head i would invent,
    Ways of going from Sioux boy to Sioux man,
    Until i got older and that wasnt the plan,

    I was sad that i could not be Sioux,
    But still very happy that i had Native in me too,
    So in writing this poem i became little Sioux boy,
    With a story to tell you that i hope one day you can enjoy.

    this is also beautiful. i dont know about you but i do have native blood. not cherokee or souix but zapotec, aztec, and mayan. this is really great and a great flow. another 10 -Sydney
