    Loss of Desire

    Blocked from the sun
Held back in the shadows, in pain.
    Stifling…
    Wishing only to see light
To smell the clean cool air of fantasy-
But being locked tragically in reality

No longer waking with the lingering joy of dreams
Bright scenes of a better existence-

    Their absent.

Replaced with different versions of the same truth
    Not brighter or darker
Just different shades of the same

Was happiness a memory or an illusion
    A want….a desperate desire
    Manifesting into a living dream
Then turning to the darkest of nightmares.
    Haunting an already tortured existence.

Is it the defeat of ones aspirations?
Or merely the acceptance of true reality.

I like the last line - reality - what is it really - all in eac our owns' preception - very thought provoking

I can really relate to this. Sometimes we spend so much time and energy focusd on things that seem important, yet they do nothing for the soul. Then one day we turn around, and the light has faded, leaving emptiness. We feel stagnant and life seems bland. 10 from me.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
