Lost In a Castle

This is poem that is a combo/twist on Christine from Phantom of the Opera and Belle from Beauty & the Beast. Enjoy!!!

Standing against a moonlit sky in a castle of stone,
Could it be that I am truly alone?
I stand in a damp and rainy mist,
In my dreams, have I even been kissed?
Before an open door in a storm I stand
I look back on the cold, wet and desolate land.
Is there a Phantom or Beast here? Are you ever lonely?
Must be be alone for all eternity?

I wander through many a dark and lonely hall,
I hear a beautiful, sad voice taht beckons and calls.
I have seen a mask or was that just a face?
I know you can see me in my dress, covered in lace.
Shadows run here and there through the pale moonlight,
I am lost in a castle, the door shut tight.

How long, sweet shadow, have you dwelt here?
Do you chase the night with your lonely tears?
You sad sweet angel, oh mysterious beast,
For my eyes to see you would truly be a feast!!!
Wait!! In the looking glass, was that a face that I see?
Or does my mind play vicious tricks on me?
Over wind-swept lands of sand and snow,
You ran away from the love you would never know.

Are you a Beast? A creature of the night?
Far away is your refuge in your tearful flight.
Surely, you have not claws, fur nor fangs,
Inside this castle, from Beast to Man, you must have changed.
I too belong to no one, I have no one to love.
Only God Himself holds us together, from Heaven above.

You are able to love, yet have many sorrows and woes,
Oh my, what is this? Left for me is a beautiful red, red rose.
Still, I feel a cold wind from your eyes, much like the land.
Into your world, please let me in. Please let me understand.
In this very cruel world, I know you are not alone.
Oh, sad sweet angel, what kind of life have you known?
Enchanted into these walls, here, how long have you been?
You hid yourself away inside your own deep, dark den.

I hear you while I run through halls of mirror and stone,
Telling me you no longer wish to be forever alone.
Oh God, forgive me if I have tossed to him many a cruel word,
His soul seems to be as fragile as the song of a bird.
Do you dare to again gleefully dance?
Will you not give sweet love a second chance?
Nor I nor you can run away from the past.
Surely this love of mine has torn away this mask.

You poor tormented soul, deformed and twisted by hate.
God brought me her to love you. Believe me, it is not too late!!!
Hide yourself no longer behind the color of the night,
Come to me, please be brave, bold and bright.
Out of the darkness, you to me came.
Don't be afraid, it is not you but the world that I blame.

Oh!! You came!!! And how handsome your features!!!
How could I ever think of you as a beast or even a creature?
Let me love you for a long, long time.
I will be yours and you will be mine.
I promise you one thing and one thing only
You will never, ever again be lonely.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
