Poem Commentary

My one and only Sweetheart from Jr high till Senior Prom night.

LOST LOVE

LOST LOVE

By,

Clarence Marsh

Once in my life I had a love greater than

Anyone could imagine

We spent many years together

Then one dark and gloomy evening,

 We attended a special event

Little did I know my world of love and happiness

Would be filled with pain and sorrow.

To my dismay I was told… it was not your fault,

It was her family…who had chosen her future

She obeyed and I lost my future.

I was left wandering that night

What do I do now?

Because not only was it our Prom night

It was my Birthday too!

Sometimes I wonder what if…

Because in the word gift …you have “IF”

I received a gift that night… I will never forget

It left my heart in pieces

My soul in despair

When she left me…

Who else would care?

This is a very heartfelt and deeply sad poem. I can feel the emotional depth and feel like you have opened your soul to all. Thank you for sharing.

Alot of feelings here, sadness the main one. Being alone sucks, but I would rather be alone than with the wrong person. I enjoyed reading your work, it has great lyrics and passion. Good write.

Thanks Kristy and I agree about being alone...but its always better to share love then keep it inside.

I too share those thoughts of "what if". This story is so true for many people. I actually have a really close friend who had her parents arrange her marriage, all the while she was in love with someone else. Her heart pains to this day for the love she had to give away as yours does. Such sadness to have heartbreak on what is supposed to be a special day x's 2. Very nice poem, makes me miss my friend.

I know the feeling all to well and my high school sweetheart only lives about 6 blocks from and is married but not happily.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
