Lost Lover

Electrifying...
one taste
jolts awake the memory
of forgotten tastes and touches from long ago
with a crash
a storm of emotion
rains over me
flooding me.

Sudden recollection
a moment in the dark
where I can see so clearly
what I haven't allowed myself
to see for quite some time
In a flash...
its all I feel
the shock of skin on skin
your nearness
makes the hair on my neck
stand on end

Like the lighting
draws a line between the sky and the Earth
one kiss draws the line
between past and present
this moment strikes me to the core
The crackling of the storm
a cool breaze awakes my senses
Your breath on my neck
and I lose touch of all  other feelings
but your energy
charging through me
pulsating within me until all else is numb
but this spark,
this electricity

Like the sand
can not be touched by the lighting
and be unchanged
I can not be touched by you
and remain the same.
Once I was sand...
small and clinging
falling at your feet
that abrasive, annoying presence
you could never wash clean of
now I'm glass,
polished like a jewel,
reflective like a mirror
illuminating as your spark warms
inside me like a lamp
fragile...
if broken shards
would easily rip you to peices

Oh, this was my poem about that forbidden lover I should have given myself over to. Not once did he come into my life, shaking me to the core...but twice. Each time, I was with another. It seemed like such a shame, made me wonder what could have been if I could have been his.... But seems when I'm free, he wants little to nothing to do with me. I guess I've become the shards of glass now, piercing, ripping and tearing him. Hopefully I'll stick to him like I did when I was that annoying sand....but this time it will be more than just discomfort and annoyance. He's had his chance...twice!

What a fantastic write. The last paragraph is a waterfall of creative verse!

Even your comments sound like poetry! Did you ever notice that about how poets critic each other? Thanks so much, hun!

Thank you so much! Your comments meant a lot!

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
