Poem Commentary

Need I say more

Lost Soul

It is time to put up the front yet again,
Another night alone, trying to find a friend,
the smoky atmosphere, the drinks consumed,
All the people looking, talking, laughing with others,
Still I walk alone in this mist of souls,
Sit and talk with good people, but still I am alone,
Smile and laugh with them to hide the pain inside,
What the hell does a soul do to find someone,
If only that one would walk into my life,
To extinguish this broken soul, put life back with ease,
Take this soul and mend it, love it, befriend it, complete it,
Should I go somewhere else, do something else?
Go off and fight a war, move, or just quit trying all together,
Resolve myself to being alone the rest of my natural life,
NO, I will continue to search, fight ,try,
Who knows maybe fate, karma, destiny will find me,
To quit must NOT be in my vocabulary, I was not born to quit,
I know their is someone out there for me,
But for now I must wait patiently and see,
Until my soul will be completed by that special someone.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
