    Love of the Soul

    Love of the Soul

Like a man incarcerated for life who takes a bride on the outside
I too am a man imprisoned never to physically consummate the love that I discovered
    A distant complicated relationship
    I am so emotionally drained
Constrained knowing what we have and knowing that she belongs to another
She gave her heart long ago
And now she has given me her soul
I must find a way to hold onto it forever
While finding the courage to be content in doing so

    I could just let go
However I have already fallen so hard for her
I don’t know that I would survive hitting the bottom
What if I hold on and decide to live the ultimate sacrifice
And without warning she lets go because she must -
Not strong enough for the two of us
What have I gotten myself into that I can’t get out of
This thing that we know as Soul Love

    I am changed forever
The beauty of her soul and spirit gave me no choice
There is no key to this locked door
Still my heart is open with the realization that she will never be free to free me

    The love of the Soul
    That which completes me
    Often leaves me incomplete
I am a half and she is my whole

Ah, the sweetness of a lover from afar. Hard to hold on and let go at the same time. I admire your loyalty, and yet are you actually content to live in another world from your one true love? well written...point well taken, even if it hurts.

soulwriter.......This is incredible... you capture Love in all its forms...to be more Alone having Someone in ones life than when you had No One at all....can be cruel...Love makes us weak and strong at the same time...we Learn to Understand until the Purpose is fulfilled....we all bring things to offer one another, we have so much to Discover..therefore we must open ourselves to Divine Love and Wisdom.... Darling...she is selfish. First of all I know this could just be a fantastic poem, but if it is true, run! Why should you content yourself with her make believe gift of her soul? C'mon baby, there are a lot of us girls out there who are willing to give you more than...our soul! Well, my soul's taken, but...you know what I mean? BEAUTIFUL poem.

Is it better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all? I guess that depends on how well you can take the punches. I never was much for carrying torches, knowing me, I'd be too tempted to set something on fire with it. You do spin a yarn, SW. Top marks.

Thank you always for your thoughts and kinds remarks... always even more appreciated when coming from a talented writer.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
