Love Thy Neighbor

Love Thy Neighbor

I have a serious issue that requires some deep examination.

It relates to a Commandment of God that needs no clearer translation.

“Love They Neighbor is the rule that I continue to question.

So I’ll get right to the point, here’s my personal confession.

The thing about neighbors, both far and easily accessible

Is that some, in fact many, are just not very lovable.

Some are rude. Some are thoughtless. Some are just downright mean.

Some are arrogant. Some are selfish. Some fall somewhere in between.

So there in a nutshell is the quandary I face.

Not everyone is lovable and deserving of even the slightest embrace.

So the solution to my problem is not one easy to reach.

To not follow God’s teachings could be a serious breach.

So I’ll try harder to look beyond my neighbor’s serious flaws.

I’ll be helpful I’ll be supportive. I’ll do my best for the cause.

If I succeed I will feel I have done what I should.

If I fail I hope God remembers I did the best that I could.

Read this read and it sure had me thinking. It was as if I was reading a well-prepared lesson plan in religion class. You definitely had a lot of questions yourself but in the end (as the excellent teacher you are) you allowed the students to deliberate but come to their own conclusion. Ah a moral perhaps: do the best you can with what you got in all circumstances..........

I'd like to get to know you, young man. I like your style, but most of all, I like your mind.

You are so right, loving your neighbor is not always easy. It is so hard to trust people now a days its sad but true. If people could all just learn to get along the world would be such a better place.

I like this and can relate, I had a neighbor that quandered with my wife.......they had afairs, how do you love thy neighbor with that fact. how many would honestly love thy neighbor if you knew he or she was having afairs with your spouse? So the whole love thy neighbor thing is hard, that was blaten disrecpect in every way.......this poem i shall have as a fav cause this is me all the way

Thank you I am please that the poem struck a cord with you.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
