the choice

the choice

she means no harm
it's a split second reaction
and love doesn't come
through doors open wide-
it sneaks in
and soaks in
a flash and a flicker
it leaks in
and falls short-
a fleeting deposition
of fight or flight-
she risks stability
but feels the breeze
she chooses havoc
and seeks control of certainties-
and when she falls
she aches with solitude
and weeps for hope

thank you so much! :)

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
