    Memorial to Freedom

    The blood of millions
    Has been shed
    For freedom in this land
    The rights we share--
    Because of them
    Is slipping from our hands
    Special interest groups run wild
    Declaring they know best
What is good for every man
    It's they that I detest
    They do not have compassion
    For those who disagree
They salve themselves with a balm
    Based in their own morality
    Behavior monitors are they
Who live in their own world
And deem that we should live there too
    Because their so damned good!
They care not for the blood of those
    Who bravely fought and died
    And freedom's just a word
    If we sit idly by--
    And let them mandate bondage
In this world they are creating
    The motive greed and power
    And there is no abating--
    These moral busy bodies
    Who mercilessly devise
    More rules and regulations
So they can rule our lives!
Its true that we need order
    Anarchy can not reign
    But freedom is a joke
When they bind us with the chains
    Of exorbitant taxation--
So our capital they can gain
They take away all we have
    So they may comfy live
In ivory towers of their minds
    And truly they believe
That they are doing good for man
    And saving this old earth
    When what they are creating
    Is poverty and death
To the spirit of those who pull the cart
    And make this country run
They're killing the hard working man
And you'll find the smoking gun
    Was loaded with the freedom
    Of this greedy minority
    To over take the freedom
    Of the majority
They say we have to go along
    No matter what the price
    The globe is getting hot
    So we must sacrifice
And pay the cost to save their world
In which they strive to linger
The common man must do it all
While they don't lift a finger
Except to sign their own agenda
    Into another mandate
Their ink stained hands of blue and red
    Speak of their greed insatiate
They whip the horse that drives the cart
we can barely stand the licks
    We're stinging from the beatings
Of these fat blood sucking ticks!
I thank the heroes who bravely fight
And those that fought and died--
They fight for all that I hold dear
    They are our countries pride
But its a shame to see this land
Fall to the prey of those
    Who take our freedom daily
    And the burdens they impose
So that they can have their cake
While we scrape by for bread
I curse them with the blood--
That our fighting men have shed
But they fail to hear the screams
    Of soldiers in deaths sorrow
    Who died yesterday and today
    So we could have tomorrow
For the blood of uncommon valor
    Does not strike a chord
In the hearts of those whose interests
    Are in their own accord

Thanks Marilyn, I would gladly fight by your side for this country should the day ever come.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
