Poem Commentary

Memories of Jim-bo was written after my step-father passed away. His name was Jim, but when he came into my young life, I nicknamed him Jim-bo. He was my Dad in everyway but blood and I love an miss him so even today.

Memories of Jim-bo

Memories
Soft ones
Hard ones
Some are funny
Some are sad
Memories of Jim-bo
Memories of so much love
Working with wood
Memories of Jim-bo
Father, Dad
Friend, Buddy
Cheering Squad
Shoulder to cry on
Advise counsel
A tender hand when I cried
A steel hand when I was wrong
Loving arms always
Memories of Jim-bo

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
