    UPA PICTURE CHALLENGE ~ MERELY TIME

    MERELY TIME

     Jim Croce sang
    if I were in a bottle
    before his .. unfortunately ran out
    people often say i'm money
    though i'm not

    tenants living at The Crossbar Hotel Chain
    are televised daily .. in the news
    written about in the papers
    fifteen minutes of fame

    do something bad? a few times?
    unacceptable? below reproach?
    no problem .. there's no need to fret
    you have my word
    you'll be set free to wreak havoc 
    again and again

    blackmail has no hold on me
    infinite payments are made accordingly
    i'm a scorching hot commodity
    not nearly enough of me to go around
    no one really cares nor admits to having me
    do I actually exist?

    I bring joy .. celebration .. tears and frowns
    departure .. passes quickly .. drags on
    i've been called father .. yet i've no children
    when I come calling
    i'll be all that's left behind
    merely time

    Hello there my fellow hippie in arms, armed with a bic and a bong Haha. This truly was a masterful write in my opinion. I like Charlie loved the riddle aspect of this piece, very thought provoking. As you know I relate a lot of things back to my love of music and this write took me in several directions, reminding me of a few differant Bob Dylan Lyrics, 'When you got nothing, you got nothing left to lose, you're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal'. Many people believe that 'when you got nothing' means you lost your possessions, but it is much more than that, people can have wealth, and still have nothing, do not lose youself for if you do you truly have nothing, and you are invisible because if you do not love/care for yourself how could anyone else be expected to. Sorry, i'm a lil stoned so maybe I am just ranting, but that is just a piece I took from this metaphorical pie Haha. Peace and Love, Spence

    Hey there my hippie friend, hitting those 12 carburetors all by yourself on that rare bong filled with a fine tasting wine. Yeah, been hanging with some Dylan vibes for a long time now, progressing to Led Zep's "when the levee breaks" and Hendrix's "planet neptune" previously unreleased. People can certainly have everything and at the same time have nothing at all. Your great comments are always some of the most interesting. This challenge write adheres to "only time" hence the line "i'm called father yet i've no children". All lines are about "time". I appreciate your take on this challenge write. Peace and Love, SBear
