Poem Commentary

Thinking of others would be a good way to start off the year.

Message to Papa

We commend you dear friend for your able assistance

Always responsive when called upon when we meet resistance

From the tiniest of problems to those of large measure

You take them all in stride with never a word of displeasure

Well, we seek your guidance once more in a matter we all do lament

It seems there are thousands of poems on OP without one single comment

Now we know it can be said “that’s life suck it up”

But that’s not much consolation for those with an empty comments cup

It just doesn’t seem right that these poems should languish without notice

While others bask in glory; that result just doesn’t suffice

We respectively request that you champion our latest good cause

And seek out a solution to bring these poems some minimal applause

One approach that we offer, may we be so bold

Is to maintain a separate OP section devoted to those “out in the cold”

In that manner those of us that wish to read and observe

Can provide at least one little comment and give them the attention they deserve

A passionate plea to the unread poems. A compassionate poet would only think of this plea and selflessness. ty ginga

Thank you. Papa read and responded before his sudden and unfortunate departure.

I try to promote ideas, and poets as much as possible. A poem game maybe need'd say like a HD Tv can be given away, lol The Poem is right, lol A random poem pop up, if one decided, to have that option thrown their way. All in all it's a great site. thank you for your perfect poem in it's all acord, love it, thank you WS

If people who normally go without comments on their poem(s) get a comment or two now and then they will be more motivated to stay and participate. That's my take. Thanks for providing input.

So very true, hampton. There's a "buzz worthy" section in the forums that has proven to be quite useful on this subject. I'm hoping there will be other ways to draw attention to the lesser read poets here on OP, also. Thanks for posting this :)

Thanks, I think we will hear more about "highlighting" the forgotten poems as time goes by.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
