Midnight Sin

Midnight Sin

A dream deferred is a dream openly splayed
Fermenting the liquid within the concave
The hour of animal-thought portrayed
In the fruit which bears the flesh relayed
Just as the pulsating urge demands and requests
To taste the juices flowing sweet
In the deepest gorge they indulge
Sinking tooth after tooth in passionate seed
Disobeying God’s secret creed

Shame, oh shames do the fruit bearers bring
When their chimes ring at twelve
And shrilly do they sing

Totally righteous!

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
