    Mirror Image

Having stared at the mirror for hours, I realize that there are two sides of me.
One side wants to be free, the other hides behinds shadows and dares to be heard.
I have seen the bluebird of happiness, and have felt the cherry blossoms gentle touch,
yet my mirror image tells me that this is not enough.
Though the person that i see, may be exactly like me, she is without sight, and her face is withdrawn, her skin is pale, and her physical form is decrepit and years of time can be seen,
but what about the real me, with cheeks of rose, and lips so sweet, with the drink of youth at my feet,
I wonder why her eyes tell that of sadness and rage,
why she stays locked in a soul depriving cage.
As I contemplate the numerous explanations and connotations,
I realize that the eyes that I stare into are my own.
My future, my past, the now, and eternal , the lost, the found, the heart, and the pain, yet I struggle with my image, though I dare not to be vein.
The next time you look into the mirror of dimensions, do not forget of your own intentions.
You are who you are and though you may change,
your hopes and your dreams are not in vein.....
    and most importantly without reprise,
    the mirror image never lies.

This one is the best by far. well thought out like the others but something about it is so mystical, yet practical. Wonderful.

taking a long look in the mirror holds a truth that you captured beatifully especially for when i don't let the real me be me..

I enjoyed this poem. The empathy within the words, the courage to face one's own reflection and evaluate who's in the mirror... looking deeper to recognize that it is within us where real beauty thrives.

Very well written to go deeper into the psyche..or our own perceptions of self and what the mirror does not say frm our own opinions within. Your use of words are very well chosen as I could imagine looking deeper into the soul when you write..I enjoyed this piece ...

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
