    //Monsoon//

This year the goddess comes in a boat
    the man smiled

squeezing a paan into his mouth’s corner
    he spat
    on the spluttering rain
    and wrinkled his disgust
    over the continuous rain.

squeezing himself to a corner of the shop
    the man abused mankind
    accursed civilization.

even thousand curses bestowing upon women.
    he stammered
look the mother is angry with us.
    She demands head.

    Squeaking shouting he retained
    Until the rain stopped
    Spitting
    like the man.

We knew he talked of rain
    till he left.

squeezing a smile to hide his agile tranquility
    he muttered to himself
the goddess will return in a boat.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
