    Moose Obituary

    Few knew of his life:
    few knew of his death.
    a bull moose, probably
    less than three years old,
    drowned
    he struggled for hours
til at last he gave up
    his younger weak legs
    sunk deep
    he could not keep
    his head up
    no one could save him
    nature can be cruel

Does anyone ever need to be told this: (nature can be cruel). This line is not needed for the poem to tell its story. And I dare say the poem would be far stronger without it. That conclusion is the reader's epiphany. And now they won't have because there is no revelation left for them to have. I like your intent nonetheless. A poet friend// RH Peat

simple yet leaves you thinking. I'm not sure why but not having much punctuation works for this.

I know that he will, but it truly was an experience I wish I had not witnessed-the Conservation officer that finally responded after the young died said 'nature was taking its course' I still wish i could've done more-Namaste...Earthly

An obituary for a moose with no name actually makes me kinda sad. I wouldn't be able to stop crying if I saw an animal struggling only to die...

My husband and I did what we could-took turns staying with it (may sound funny, but I even tried to console it)-I called local conservation office and was told that "nature will just run its course" -I did cry-I tried many times to write a poem about, and finally, this what I came up with, but there is so much more unsaid-I dreamnt that night that the moose was calling for help-it truly was traumatic for me as I love to watch moose-it was exciting to see him at first, unti I realized his predicament-TY for reading and commenting friend-Namaste...Earthly

I was thinking about a little poem about otters.Otters are so cute. Mooses are cool too.Good job.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
