Morning on the Dock

Morning on the Dock

I hail the dawning
on a tottering dock
breathing the newness
of time

the whispering waters
and buoyant breeze
catch up my spirit
to joy

with arms outreaching
face turned to the sky
make way for the light
of grace

Stunning! And for me a double meaning; my daughter's name is Grace. Seeing that new layer of meaning, for me personally, made it all the more breathtaking. You are incredibly talented and I thank you for sharing your work.

I love the name Grace, it is beautiful. Thank you for commenting on this one, it had seemed to be forgotten by now.

This sort of feels like a prayer or a meditation... Very nice feelings and visuals brought forth.....

Another wonderful offering my friend. I like your style immensely. You must be a Browning or Dickenson fan. It's wonderful how effortlessly your poems seem to flow. Check out my poems Annapolis City Dock and It's a Wonderful Place. Both are acrostic again and are written to accompany the attached paintings by a favorite artist of mine. Look closely at the detail within the paintings. The artist's name is Paul McGehee. He graduated from school the same year as me and has a gallery in Alexandria Virginia. Thanks again for sharing.... Again, thanks so much. You are correct, I do love Browning and Dickenson, as well as many others...I will read your suggestions; looking forward to it.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
