Poem Commentary

I was up watering tomatoes and just felt so blessed to be here this morning.

Morning

We went outside this morning
before the sun was completely awake
the sky still had a touch of grey from the night
the breeze was cool and quiet
the smell of the garden was fresh
and as we worked, we listened to the breeze
rustling in the trees around us
then as we sat their enjoying earths beauty
the sun started to slowly rise
and bless us with its warmth on our skin
the birds awakened,
and we just marveled in the wonder of the whole thing
and I think about everyone who wakes up late on a weekend morning
saying, what a beautiful day
I look back and think,
they missed the very best part of it.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
