Mortal Memories, Immortal Thoughts

Mortal Memories, Immortal Thoughts

Life for me
ended so very long ago,
and yet, on that day
is also when it truly began.

The ashes of memories
float like dust in the air,
leaving a taste, a smell,
a vision of days almost forgotten.

There once was a time
when my eyes held light,
when warmth flowed through my veins
when lust aroused more than just a hunger.

Centuries separate me
from what I once was.
I know that I lived and loved
but I can't remember why.

I hear voices where no life exists
I see beauty in terrified eyes;
I taste salvation on blood soaked lips
I feed on meaningless lives.

The darkness has a sound
of lust, freedom, and fear,
a song of magical brilliance
that resonates within my ears.

The melody of your essence
creates a haunting tune,
Calling for release
from within it's mortal tomb.

Into your mind I wander
under my spell you fall,
within my arms you slumber
I feed till death does call.

Thank you for the great comment, I'm glad you enjoyed this.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
