    Mother a Living Earthly Jewel

    Mother God’s Living Earthly Jewel

A mother is that precious jewel
A beacon in a world so cruel
That gem of life while living
A heavenly gift that keeps on giving

    Through nurturing of her young
And love for her man she gets things done
And along the way she shows love and good
    To the world and neighborhood

    With recipes that satisfy
And creative ideas to please the eye
And along with battling her daily fear
She manages to balance home and career

While assuring her man he is the one
She loves for now and all time to come
Yet in moments of anger she’s been known to show
That it’s not the way we want her to go

Yet in calmer moments she’s a quiet storm
Of love and passion exceeding the norm
Of earthly love to overcome times so cruel
She’s Mother, God’s living earthly Jewel

I love this poem, it says so much about our mother's in a few short sentences. I am new to poetry, compared to you. I write for people at work, and like you have been behind the mic. I usually do poems for retirements, weddings, my father's memorial, personal things. I loved this one

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
