    Mother

     Perhaps all that can be said,
    has been said about my mother.
    It matters not who said
    this thing, that thing or the other.
    Just  that you know this.
    It makes no difference
    what anyone has said.
    As long as Mother is still
    the same mother I remember
    putting me to bed.
    Her soft touch and gentle voice
    lingers yet, in the still night air.
    The alluring scent of flowers
    is still emanting from her hair.
    And, in the dark,
    as I slowly drift off to sleep,
    I can still hear her whisper,
    "Please God, my little girl,
    may Guardian angels safely keep."h
