    Poem Commentary

    Little girls and Daddys

    My Daughter

I think of you on sunny days
Smiling, laughing all the while you play
but now I see that you're all grown
And from the nest you have flown

I hear from you every now and then
Can't wait till I hear from you again
I sit all alone here in the dark
Memories of us in Carmichael Park

Memories of you on the big kids swing
And listening to you as you sing
Your voice is always clear and true
Not hearing it makes me sad and blue

    You're coming for the Holidays
I wish we could go outside and play
For you my Daughter will always be a part
    Of your Daddy's aching heart

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
