Poem Commentary

Written for my Sweet Mother-In-Law...a wonderful and beautiful lady!

My Dear Mother Jean

My Dear Mother Jean

The smiles and hugs I always know

will await my arrival through sun or snow,

From the greatest Angel in my life,

through sacrifice, good times, and sometimes strife.

From my first breath of air I took in this world

you have always been there; my problems unfurled,

Your arms embracing me, holding me tight

You’ve watched over me lovingly from dawn and thru night

My first tooth, My first word, My first day of school

you sheltered me tenderly from the bad and the cruel,

It was your hands that supported me as I took my first step,

Steadily boyhood, then manhood up slowly crept.

Through stitches, injuries, growing pains and crime,

The words you spoke caringly, “YOUR BUTT IS MINE!”

Lingers in memories from when I was small,

I chuckle to think of it now that I’m tall.

Teaching me to cook, led to small kitchen fires,

But you stayed with me, worked with me, made me inspired.

Chuckie Cheese Birthdays, man they were the best!

All of my playthings suffered the “Jimmy Test”.

I am stubborn and hot-headed, just like my mother

who is passionate and witty, and loved like no other,

Recollections of happy times, some sad times too,

I always appreciated that mom would come through.

Relaxing with Mudslides on warm summer days,

Dale Earnhardt Jr. brings her eyes all ablaze,

I remember the laughter of years that have passed

Life lessons from mother abundantly amassed.

Now I’m a man with a family of my own

While supporting them I know, I’m not alone,

For Mom’s guiding and caring throughout my life’s strife

I will Love and adore her for the rest of my life

CERTAINLY...noteworthy! I'm sure your husband loved the time you took to write this memorable poem. Good job.

I would love to read your poems, but your font size is to small.

I am sorry that it has taken me so long to reply... I was out of town for the last few months. I have changed all the fonts to 14 so that people can read them. Thank you so much for your comments... I am glad that I was able to fix the problem. : )

Did I really write 'to small?' I meant 'too' small. Always do that...phooey! Yes, I'll certanily read ya.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
