    My Heart Hasn't Forgotten

I write this while tears slide silently down my face,
I thought I was through crying over you,
But my heart hasn't forgotten ...

My head says, move on, don't waste another minute
wondering about what could have been
    But my heart hasn't forgotten...

What it felt like to be loved by you,
to have had so much and then to have nothing...
no one else understands how difficult it is to move on,
    when my heart hasn't forgotten...

Each step forward is like walking through a sand storm,
eyes stinging, blindly wondering where I'm going,
reaching out for someone to take my hand and guide me,
    because my heart hasn't forgotten

This brings back memories. ( not the good kind ) Though I've picked up the pieces and moved on with my life, this one scar still nags at my heart. It's been 20yrs for me, but your words bring back the sting of the past. You'll find ,with time, the devastating pain will ease. It just becomes another page in your life's journal. Good Luck, this is a beautifully written poem, TS

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
