    My Keeper

Our story began on a dirt road,

by a daisy patch, resting under an aspen tree.

We were told that tree was planted when my grandmother was

    baptized.

But that was so long ago...

We sang by the river one day,

watching the dark backs of trout

    ripple through the water.

Your red and white bobber didn't move once.

You picked me sunflowers to put in my hair.

And the bees always liked me best for this.

One day, you got a dog.

I named her Ebony, because she was black,

like the wood that holds together pianos.

We fell in love, and all the days

seemed to just fall into place.

All the hours went a little slower, just for us.

And my heart, these days, beats a little faster.

I suppose I have you to thank for that.

This is cool! Reads of a love that developed at young age, and only grew deeper...

bullets, A story so tender, and innocent the reader would hardly know one went fishing, since the dreamy mood gets my head all caught up in the romance of it all. Wonderful memory. Great poetry! ginga

Touches the heart in all the right places, whimsical yet expresses a love we all wish we had , all hearts need to beat a little faster, "I'm in love, and the world should know it feeling". love your writing 10

This was such a touching write, most writes are when the heart you wear on your sleve replaces the ink used in your pen. 10 from me.

    That's beautiful. :) Thank you.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
