    My Mirror

Woke up this morning round 4am.
no alarm clock, GOD is truly my friend
cause if I get up any later, then I'm running behind
clothes pressed, got sleep, now i'm finding food to eat.
After the shower, lotion up & in my clothes
what the hell am I wearing, only GOD knows
ain't organized enough to get it ready at night,
throw something on and it don't look right.

I pass my Mirror and recognize the face
    it ain't me though,
how long you been in this place?
she asked me, as I asked the same thing
    home alone, no wedding ring.
where in the world are you off to this time of the day
too shocked to answer, didn't know what to say
Momma you died how long ago. I questioned my sanity
as the conversation went back & forth.

Girl you became all you never set out to be
would fight me tooth & nail about not becoming me.
would style your hair different, would wear flashy clothes
would cut it all off and put a ring in your nose, and at 40years old
as you start your day, I'm tickeled pink with what I'm about to say.

That suit I wore, those shoes i had, That briefcase you carry, I had the same bag. girl the apple don't fall too far from the tree
congrats on becoming the spitting image of me.
You can't believe it, how do i know
open your eyes baby, your Mirror said so.

And tell your daughter Grandma says HELLO.
Don't be too hard on her hear!
