    My Motherland

The land flowing with milk and honey,
The people lacking in health and money,

A strange land with leaking boarders,
A hapless people in great disorder.

    How is it that.........
Abundant rain falls and yet the plant withers,
Extensive sun shines and yet the child shivers.

An oddity indeed, but not in this land.
To come alive again, where do we begin.

Can we all drink the milk and eat the honey?
Can our fields still bloom and our children look lovely?

Yes! but first we must dare to dream.
Because all creation and all invention,
    Every reformation and regeneration,
Began in the mind and imagination:
When someone, somewhere, dared to dream..

Oh my lord! What inspiration and dedication this poem designates! I love this one its in my favs already! No one really knows the truth of the Motherland and what our people has went through and are steadily going through no which is so pains taking.... great poem Syks.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
