    What Winter hides Spring reveals

    My Old Friend is Gone

    He disappeared this morning
    I woke up and he was gone
    Yet not a word was spoken
    Still somehow life will go on

    Later on the snow began
    Surely 'twas a fitting thing
    And a harbinger of cold
    Just once more the winter's sting

    Fog had covered up his home
    He shall not be gone for good
    Tomorrow he might return
    At least I'm  thinking he should

    Now once more the weather clears
    It is what we all do seek
    Again we shall greet once more
    My dear and old friend - Pikes Peak

    The beauty of nature never stops amazing us. The pleasure of being amazed by the wonders of nature is a gift given to some by the Creator. I've never been to the Pikes Peak but you've helped me along in my visualization with your vivid description. I salute you Sir for wonderful poem. Thank you.

    Sometimes Mt. Rainier plays hide and seek too, but wow...when it is out strutting it's stuff! Great creative poem Stryx, I really enjoyed it!

    I spnet some time in colorado springs and the pike was a demanding sight loved the poem and it is written with great talent . Thanks Marie

    Ever since I arrived here I have called it Mount Zeb - except sometimes...I also like, The Peak of Pike. But it is always impressive isn't it?
