    my performance

nervous and excited at the same time
waiting to go up on stage
and perform my reading to the people
    my legs feel like jello
    and my hands are shaking
a man appears on the stage
    and reads my introduction
i walk shakily up the stairs of the stage
when i get to the microphone
the spotlight blinds me from seeing
    all of those watching
i recite my poem and walk off of the stage
    at first there is silence
but then the people join in
and i can hear a strong, steady applause
    i smile to myself
proud of having a job well done
i sit back into my seat
    and listen to the applause
    for my well given performance

Ahhh...I know this scenario too well...but I am not brave enough to perform in front of people anymore :(....I applaud your courage!!!...this is good...I am not one to know how to advise as far as structure or stanza, etc...but I like the premise behind this very much and can relate emphatically!!

thankyou. i like the challenge of perfoming in front of ppl. i know i can do it if i have to but i am always afraid befor i perform.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
