    MY WISH IS A DREAM!!

     Lay my head to rest,
    make a wish,
    hope that the new day will be a better  place,
    as i lay there i try to think,
    maybe my world would be a better place, if only if i wish,
    wish hard before the darkness falls on my weary brow,
    i nod off now, hoping somehow i could have this wish.
    As i sleep, i dream...
    Dream of a better place,
    if i could somehow grab a hold of this place maybe it will stay with me in my real world.
    if only in my wish,
    when i dream i dream of a place, not filled with hate nor disgrace.
    no pain, no sorrow, no condisending people,
    just a place of peace, hope, love and joy.
    oh how i wish i could grab hold of my dream world
    take it with me to the real world.
    but i know that will never be,
    so please dont wake me,
    let me sleep,
    i dont want to be in a world that has no time for me.
    let me sleep,
    i dont want to be hurt so let me be,
    let me sleep for that is where i DREAM!!

    Ah, if we could only escape into our dream - but alas, we cannot. Though it may not be our 'fault,' we must face it alone. None-the-less, your write expressed what we all feel from time-to-time.

    Sometimes the real world can be an ugly place and people can be cruel and insensitive,but do not lose hope. As poets we can use our talents and dreams and visions to reveal to others a much better world and with hope, determination and faith can achieve it.

    wow, this is exactly how i feel right now. i just want to sleep until the pain is over. but i can't. even when i sleep i dream of her and i wake with grief and loss. this is a great poem.
