    My World

My world and your world will never been the same.
    They clash and smash.
    Never quite coexisting.
    You don't care.
    You don't love.
    You don't know.
    You. Lie.
    Face the facts.
I see through your second face,
    the mask you wear,
    isn't there.
    You slipped up.
    You felt something sweet.
    And now I'm dead beat.
    You'd hold my hand,
And look sweetly into my eyes and say, "I love you."
    I believed you.
    You lied to me.
That the difference between our worlds.
Both our worlds started out naive.
Just young love, what's the worst that could happen?
Mine changed for the better, loving and caring.
Yours changed for the worse, lying and cheating.
Soon they'll all know what I figured out.
    It couldn't be that long.
    I'll count them out.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
