Nate's Song

Poem Commentary

I've written songs for all my children and grandchildren over the years.  So, granted, this is a song, not a poem, but it captures the pure essance of my darling, Nate.

Nate's Song

I say "pish," when I mean fish
I say "wiss" when I mean Chris
Some people don't know what I say
But Jesus hears me when I pray...

And he says, "I understand your heart,"
"I know everything you try to say,
And when you're sad then I'm sad, too
Because, I understand you."

For my darling grandson, Nathaniel Isaiah Matthews - My Nate-Orious!!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
