    This poem is about a woman who I met that is part native and my thoughts of her and our interaction.

    You didnt seem like much to look at in the begining, in fact I looked the other way,
    I had other thoughts on my mind that day,
    But then I took a look at you and we had a conversation,
    And in an instant birthed our brief relation,
    I found out that you were full blood native, truly from the motherland,
    Mistaken you for Latina, I was happy to be corrected to understand,
    I felt a kindred soul, one in time i wouldnt mind to make as one,
    Revived was the culture in me that is lost but not known, I desired again to learn of my heritage under the sun,
    And you may have had a hood name to announce who you were but I knew better than that,
    Your true name was a far better choice, a name that would have a man make you his at the drop of a hat,
    But you were intelligent as well, and further aroused my mind,
    Its true when they say a good woman is hard to find,
    And i liked your hair and face, and pretty hands and feet,
    I liked your eyes the most, especially when they saw mine to meet,
    I liked you as you were, flaws and all you were perfect in my sight,
    Like God who made the heavens and the earth and said, "LET THERE BE LIGHT!",
    For you have your faults too, but in my eyes they were not great,
    Light as a feather to me, I, could carry their weight,
    But alas, our time together met death, its end was quick, was swift,
    When you left from my presence all i had was a memory and your sweet smell to sift.
