    Naught But A Dying Dream

    Through your trials and hardships
    You differ from yourself
Through the bad times and the worse
    You’re constantly changing

You loved me once, long ago
    You said you always would
    But you didn’t; you changed
    You moved on past me

    I don’t care anymore;
I’ve got a life of my own
You aren’t in it any longer,
    Though you could’ve been

    I’m through with you now
As you first were with me
    Time passed; things happened
    And now, I’m okay.

I don’t miss you any longer
    You’re gone from my life
    Nothing but a fading memory
    Naught but a dying dream

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
