Never Give UP On Your Dreams!

Poem Commentary

I am very amazed at the persevering and determined spirit of President Barack Obama. He has been victorious in his health care reformation efforts. Now health care is not something to be afforded by the rich and fortunate only. Now it is being made available to most citizens, and this poem is in recognition of his efforts.

Never Give UP On Your Dreams!

Never give up on your dreams, your ideas go far,
The dreams neglected to persue may be your shining star,
Don't forget to reach your goals and tip to reach those heights
that were not attained by talk but toiling dawn till night!

The dream of true healthcare for all was lost in stacks of flack,
But Mr. President you've triumphed where others seem to lack,
We hear the hounding on the hill,
Of those who oppose your healthcare bill,
They have no true solution to present,
Only to oppose the President!

It does not help when not objective,
Only opposing and not being selective,
Of a fight that are an important cause,
Helping a majority by amending the laws,
Especially something as flawed as this,
Now we are in healthcare bliss!

Never to be denied healthcare,
When my precondition has made me scared,
Now I can buy, though those oppose,
Healthcare is more important than shoes and clothes,
Yet there are those who want to deny,
Important reform they'll defy,
Because they are wealthy and can afford,
They rebel a lot and show discord!

And then there are those who are full of self,
Great healthcare reform they want to shelf,
They live on a pedestal,
That is fragile as a rose petal,
And since they have good healthcare,
Great care for others they do not care.

Many of those who dare oppose,
Healthcare reform they presuppose,
Is not important for those uncovered,
Many sufferings are discovered,
In those poor and vulnerable souls,
With shattered dreams and damaged goals,
They deserve great healthcare,
So stop making it a big, big scare!

Sine you fortunates are taking pay offs,
And meet in secrets in your hidden lofts,
To accept payment from insurance companies,
Pharmaceutical and special interest "pappies",
To line your pockets to oppose,
Healthcare reform as history shows,
This reform will limit your tricks,
Your dishonest ways are now as discomforting pricks!

Oh, Mr. Congressman stop telling lies,
Our president must be applauded for his many tries,
For providing healthcare to all those in need,
Is not just any ol common deed?
Those detractors must be ashamed,
In attempting to deny good healthcare,
To those greatly in need is not fair,
Our Nations resources distributed fair.

Call it socialism if you want,
One day you may not afford care and can't,
And you'll be rescued by the healthcare bill,
And repent of your selfish and twisted will.

Thank you for this much need-to-read poem exposing the political BS in giving us what is ours anyways. Bravo!!

Thank you so much dahlusion. I am very amazed at the fervency at which the wealthy and fortunates of the country and those accepting bribes and payoffs from big health insurance and pharmaceutical company lobbyists continue to fight against poor people getting good health care. Since many of these guys, some of which are crooks are dependents on the funds of these companies to run their political campaigns for re-election, they want to sacrifice the interests of their constituents in order to continue taking their bribes and their election money. They are despicable and they are a disgrace. They may try to do lawsuits with superficial objections, but the facts is that we the people know what is truly motivating them, and they can pretend, but we know the truth and when you know the truth it sets you free.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
