No Houdini

No Houdini

Locked in a straight jacket

Struggling to break free

I have no escape route

No magicians key

Bound by the trappings

Of life’s locks and chains

On the verge of breaking

Trying to stay sane

I’ll lie here inert

Maybe stillness is the key

Perhaps someone will come

Break these chains and set me free

I have no clever way out

For I am no Houdini

I have no great illusions

I’m right here ,why can’t you see me?

A nicely written, philosophical work. Seems we all go through this phase and many never escape. Great write.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.

Plato (BC 427-BC 347) Greek philosopher.
