    Poem Commentary

I'm not much of a poet, and I have to confess that these two simple stanza took my longer to put into words than I'm willing to admit. This little poem is simply about my more nocturnal nature. I get a real sense of peace and relaxation at ...night. I revel in the quiet solitude when others are sleeping as a time to gather my thoughts, relax, and perhaps take the time to be a bit creative in a hectic world that I would otherwise not have time to do so. No drama, no ongoing mayhem of hustle and bustle life. I enjoy what I like to think as the spirit of the night.

    Nocturnal Umbra

My path is of shifting shadows amidst eternal eventide.

Gazing on reflecting dark, dare I neven or bide?

Penumbras flicker like flame in frozen fading light.

Seductive siren calls, alluring from deep in quiet night.

Somniferous ethereal notes, face the nightscape.

Let her chant blanket thought as a soothing drape.

The notes wash over, pass through, and consume.

I welcome in enchanting calm gloom.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
