Not Just Civil

Picture this scene; naught but blood
and weeping ones loved, crouched over their dead
whispered cries, 'Lord, Forgive me' as they end their sorrow
This wasn't what He intended, not death by a brother's hand
We think its over; the red days gone
but it is anything but
we fail to see past the stain
civil isn't all that exists
Our family isn't the whole; just a drop in our veins
our brothers are across their seas, beyond our gruesome walls
they spilled our life with envy
but shall we spill theirs? no.
why would we?
What shall our excuse be?
When we are no longer hidden by our lies,
as the light from their tears shine through
we are ourselves
evil, not civil

to only be 13 you got saw talent , I enjoyed this write, a beautiful tribute to all those who have given their lives. a def. two thumbs up in my eyes.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
