Nurtured By Nature

Poem Commentary

An amazing healing experience I had on a day when I needed a friend with me but was alone.  I was drawn to nature and found out that I am never alone.

Nurtured By Nature

I walked outside
With a whirlwind in my head
A knot deep in my throat
Made entirely of lead
Yet I was drawn to the lawn
The spacious wide open
It felt like relief
From the box I'd been closed in
So I planted my feet
Strong and firm in the grass
Closed my eyes and breathed deep
Let these feelings amass
Then sent them straight down
Deep into the Earth
"This energy," she said to me
"Will transmute and redisperse"
"We'll use it to create
Something of beauty"
"Your old energy can generate
Something brand new"
So I felt all the tension
Drain down in the Earth
Where it was then changed
Exchanging its worth
Then the breeze came right through
And cleansed my whole field
The wisdom of Nature
Was strongly revealed
And it seemed necessary
To allow it to heal me
In that moment when I
Needed someone to be with me
Then I felt the Presence
Of those ever-present
And looked up at the trees
All that I wanted was to
Connect energetically
To feel the rhythm
Of life force and beingness
I approached one small tree
Young but tall
Very thin, like a large branch
I held the tree,
Wrapped my hands around it
Felt the surge of energy
When our fields met
I closed my eyes
And felt so at peace
The breeze came again
And I felt so simple
So non-resistant
Like a leaf floating
Gently on a stream
Right in the flow
Then the tree said,
"Its all much bigger than this,"
Instantly I saw images and felt sensations
Of being swept up in the wind
Along with leaves and rivers
Then the view expanded
Giving me shivers
All I was seeing was being
Swept up in a cosmic wind
That felt so familiar and amazing
Freedom from any fear
A giant purple swirl
Of a galaxy and space dust
All being hurled around and around
Never beginning, never ending
A beautiful cycle of beingness
I opened my eyes
And felt so alive
I put my hand
On another branch
And the tree said,
"I wouldn't cut off my own branches, would I?"
In a very wise, matter-of-fact way
I understood
I felt the breeze again
Saw the clouds
The branches stretching
For Life
Felt a divine connection
With the spirits of nature
Next I went and touched
A group of leaves
Small, new leaves
Bright green
Little pieces of hope
I held them gently
And they said to me,
"Each moment is fresh and new!"
And the breeze blew yet again
Fresh and New
I smiled and loved
The new friends I had
In Nature
