    Poem Commentary

    UPA~FICTIONAL CHARACTER CHALLENGE

    OF HIS IMAGE
    Around campfires
    Lumberjack tales began
    A giant baby was born
    Three storks struggled mightily
    To fly the infant home

    The child grew fast
    Breaking every window in the home
    From the vibrations
    Of his clapping and laughing

    At seven months of age
    The boy sawed the legs
    Off of his parents bed

    Childhood waned
    Quickly he became a huge, strapping man
    He could cut down hundreds of trees
    With a mere swing of his axe

    It's been said
    That Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett
    Gave to him
    Babe .. the blue ox

    A widespread myth circulated
    He'd created the Great Lakes
    For Babe's watering hole
    Created Mt. Hood by piling rocks
    On top of a campfire to put it out

    Dug the Grand Canyon
    By simply dragging his axe behind him
    They both have monster size statues
    All over the land

    The Sequoia National Park boasts
    The world's largest wood carving
    Of his image

    Ah yes...Paul Bunyan was his name. In Brainard Minnesota they make quite a todo over this great man and of course Babe, the Blue Ox. Very nice work.

    Enjoyed traveling through Bunyan territory! Particularly like the redwoods in Cali where the largest wooden images exist! Thanks lc! SBear

    I love the mythical character as you tell his story. I can imagine a giant and his ax creating the landscape. Very nicely done!
