    • Learning that deliverance doesn't come without a birthing shroud...

    Of Worlds

    Slow, sweet, drifting melody
       penetrates tourist sounds.
    Bare feet and snug jeans
       and late afternoon shade
    Casting shadows through
       the blinds.

    Faint light from beyond the
       window pane
    Reflects upon the wine glass
       perched on denim clad knee
    Giving the wine within
       a golden expression.

    Lively liquid, amber light,
    Filtering through -
    Bringing to magnificence
       a single, solitary bubble
    Making its way
to the top of the glass,
    Like a little world,
       upward destination
Only to burst upon arrival -
    Releasing its' tiny hold on
       existence
    Disappearing -
    To leave in its' wake,
       the smallest of golden ripples...

    A life span of seconds
       measured in my dimension
    Almost ---
                     sad
    .

    I wonder...

In the spectrum of time and space
       and entity,
    What platform of life exists
    That could idly watch
       the procession of my world
    And measure its' life span
       as sadly short
    As that of the bubble
    Bursting at the top
       of the glass...?

There's a reason I've always preferred conversation with brainy brunettes... blondes are often bubbly like the wine, while you decant reality as an aperitive for the metaphysical. Smooth, very smooth.

A deeply, unique and witty philosophical work. Yes you truly are a cerebral, gifted poetess. Great write.

Using wine and its bubble as a metaphor is lovely and this is well done. Life is sadly short as a bubble bursting. We are all tourists. Sally

This poem is a masterpiece!!! You have taken a very tough comparison, and made it seamless. 10 from me.

a spark is as magnificent as the brightest star, the only difference is our perception of space and time around it :D love your thoughts here.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
